The Life Game Project has taken another big step forward with formalising its relationship with EON Foundation New Zealand.
Life Game Project (LGP) is now hosted by EON Foundation, one of two charitable projects in EON's New Zealand stable, the other being Project Mobilise (http://www.projectmobilise.com/) which is focused on using mobile devices as catalysts for creativity and having teachers able to use and teach through technology.
New avenues for attracting support in terms of materials, equipment, staff time and funding, are now available due to LGP's new status, says LGP co-founder Ian Howard.
The move is timely as interest in LGP is growing rapidly, stretching our LGP's volunteer resources, says Howard. "With the successful launch of our first project at RataVine we're now being approached by numerous community groups wanting similar computer/games suites set up for them. But we've been held back until now by our lack of charitable trust status."
At the same time, says Howard, "charitable trust status adds immense credibility to attract and serve communities."
EON Foundation New Zealand chairman John Eyles says it makes a lot of sense for the two projects to be hosted together under the EON Foundation New Zealand banner. "I think they're incredibly complementary to each other in terms of education because now we are catering to both of the emerging spaces that are revolutionising learning globally: the digital games learning mode and digital communications through mobile phones."
